Boulder County Area Agency on Aging Offers Medicare Events for Residents

Connect with the Boulder County State Health Insurance Assistance Program Medicare Advisory Team

Boulder County, Colo. – Boulder County The State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) Medicare Counseling Team offers education, one-on-one assistance, and fraud prevention to Boulder County residents. The Boulder County Area Agency on Aging (BCAAA) encourages residents to reach out and participate in the events below. BCAAA helps participants free of charge to make Medicare decisions. Residents age 64 or receiving SSDI and transitioning to Medicare must contact BCAAA at the start of their Medicare journey. Everyone is encouraged to connect with Boulder County SHIP Medicare Advisors through the resources listed below.

Medicare Fraud Prevention Week

Join SHIP Medicare Counselors and the Community Protection Division of the District Attorney’s Office for “Scams, Scams, Scams! Fraudsters on the Loose” Wednesday, June 8 from noon to 1 p.m. on Zoom. Learn how to prevent, detect and report fraud during Medicare Fraud Prevention Week. Register at Learns. Follow the Boulder County Area Agency on Aging on Facebook to learn more about tips for preventing health insurance fraud June 5-11.

BCAAA’s Medicare Basics courses are designed for anyone who wants to understand Medicare enrollment, plans, benefits, and costs. The program provides objective, up-to-date information and advice when comparing and enrolling in prescription drug plans (Medicare Part D), Advantage plans, and supplemental insurance plan information (Medigaps). BCAAA also provides guidance in the appeals process and resource information for financial assistance with Medicare costs. Find the most recent course offer and register via Learns.

Medicare advisers will organize a in person Medicare Basics Class on Wednesday, July 20 from 6-7:30 p.m. at St. true Community HUB (515 Coffman St – Room 112, Longmont). More information and registration here.
