The Iowa State Patrol released new information on what led to a pedestrian being struck and killed by a car on Interstate 35 on Friday night. This happened 40 miles south of the subway near the town of New Virginia. The Iowa State Patrol said a car struck a deer before pulling into the outer lane of I-35. The passenger got out of the car to check for damage. It was at this point that he was then struck and killed by another car attempting to move. The Iowa State Patrol said Steven Kohli, 69, of Iowa City, was killed in the crash. The southbound lanes of the highway were blocked between Bevington and Osceola for more than two hours. No other injuries were reported.
